With Women’s World Cup and MLB season in full swing, and Wimbledon right around the corner, there is a lot of great TV on for sports fans. I’m personally a huge tennis fan, and I’ve noticed that as more and more apps and services have launched, it has become more difficult to see what’s on live right now. Last night, I was rifling around and found there was tennis streaming live on PlayStation Vue, Prime Video, and Tennis TV, and my head was spinning as a major wave of FOMO set in.

Does this sound familiar? If so, I’ve got exciting news to share with you. We have created a single destination on your Fire TV on the ‘Live’ tab, which brings together your live sports, news, and channels from select OTT services, streaming apps (e.g. PlayStation Vue), paid subscriptions, and over-the-air antennas into one consolidated view. You’ll find the new ‘Live’ tab right next to ‘Home’ in the main navigation menu, and this new experience is available across all Fire TV devices and Fire TV Edition smart TVs.

Overview of the new experience

Where do you start? To get the most out of this new live TV experience, you’ll want to download or subscribe to our Live TV integrated apps, including Pluto TV and Red Bull TV who offer free live content, and PlayStation Vue and Philo, which require a monthly subscription, but have a solid lineup of live channels. And if you subscribe to Prime Video Channels, you will get access to additional rows of live channels and sports from HBO, SHOWTIME, MLB.TV, NBA League Pass, PGA Tour Live, and more. If you own a Fire TV Edition smart TV and/or a Fire TV Recast (our over-the-air DVR), you will also see all of your antenna channels listed alongside your other live content on the ‘Live’ tab.

Now for a quick tour. At the top of the ‘Live’ tab, you’ll find “Recent Channels,” which includes your most recently viewed channels across all integrated apps and services. So you can jump right back to the Today Show on NBC from PlayStation Vue, breaking news coverage on CBSN from Pluto TV, the newest episode of Big Little Lies on HBO as it airs, or your local weather forecast on NBC through a Fire TV Recast.

Recent Channels Row

Below the ‘Recent Channels’ row are genre rows that list live channels which share similar programming. A ‘Live Sports’ row gives us sports fans a single place to see what is currently airing on your favorite sports channels. And then next up, you’ll see the ‘Breaking News’ row.

Genre rows — showing Live Sports & Breaking News

After the genre rows, you’ll find dedicated rows if you have downloaded any of the integrated apps or Prime Video Channels we mentioned above. And if you’re a Fire TV Edition or Fire TV Recast owner, you’ll see a dedicated row for all your antenna channels as well here. Pro tip: You can customize the order that these channels appear in dedicated rows and Channel Guide by favoriting your chosen ones.

Dedicated integrated partner rows, such as PlayStation Vue, Pluto TV & Red Bull TV

The ‘Live’ tab will be available to all Fire TV customers in the United States over the next week. Just in time for Wimbledon! Be sure to check out the apps we’ve mentioned above to get started.
