It’s that time of the year again where my daily workouts have been pushed to the back burner. It stays darker later into the morning, and gets darker earlier in the afternoon — it’s hard to find the motivation to get myself to the gym and then decide what to do once I get there. Sometimes I feel like I just wander around from machine to machine trying to figure out exactly how to use it without looking silly. And I love fitness classes, except trying to find the right class that works with my schedule can be challenging. Despite all of my excuses, I know this is also a crucial time to stay active with all of the holiday festivities coming up, so I’ve been exploring other options.

That’s why I’m excited to announce that Peloton is launching their first app designed for the TV experience, available exclusively on Fire TV! I’m pumped for this app because it turns my (rather small) living room into a private fitness studio. I love that I can turn on the app on the largest screen in my home. Plus, my roommates and I can all do a yoga sesh together in front of the TV and not have to crowd around a phone or tablet. I can choose from an on-demand class or tune into one of their live classes if it fits my schedule.

Being new to the Peloton community, I was mostly familiar with their cycling classes, but the best part of the app on Fire TV is that offers strength, toning, meditation, and yoga sessions as well. I can break a sweat with one of their strength classes in the morning before work, then come home and do a meditation session before bed.

Already use a Peloton Bike or Tread? You can hop right off after a class, turn on the TV, and find an on-demand strength or stretching session. The Peloton App for TV gives you more options to round out your work out (like doing an additional core strength session at the end of your live cycling class) or to cool down and stretch it out (like with some yoga flow). Having the classes you want right on the biggest screen in your home makes it easy to follow along.

This app has reignited my motivation to stay on top of my workouts because it makes finding the right work out for me so easy, and with the number of different classes that are offered, I know I’ll never get bored. So, let’s get moving!

Do I need special equipment?

Many of the classes can be done without additional equipment, but for the classes that do require equipment, you can see what you’ll need in the class preview so that you can grab everything before tuning in. The strength and bootcamp classes that are not specifically marked as “bodyweight” classes typically use hand weights, though you don’t need a specific weight brand or weight amount (instructors will recommend light, medium, or heavy, but ultimately it’s up to you). Some of the yoga classes use blocks and straps, but we recommend using a yoga mat for all of the classes to prevent from slipping.

What kinds of classes are available?

The Peloton App offers a collection of thousands of live and on-demand health and fitness classes, including strength training, cardio, toning, yoga, stretching, meditation, running, and cycling classes right in your own living room on the largest screen in your home, essentially turning your home into a private fitness studio. And, they have classes that can fit any kind of schedule from quick 10-minute classes to 60-minute classes. Plus, runners and cyclists with their own equipment can now run or bike with Peloton instructors using their TV.
