Amazon News App Now has Free Local News Coverage in 158 Cities
The Amazon news app on Fire TV has doubled free local news stations available across the U.S.
With so much going on in the world, we know how important it is to stay updated on all the news happening where you live. We rolled out the Amazon news app on Fire TV last year in 12 cities and expanded to 88 cities in March, offering a free and customizable way to get your news. Today, we’re happy to announce we’re expanding again, offering live and on-demand free local news to 158 cities across the country.
Today’s expansion includes cities like Charleston, Wichita, Tucson, Reno, Raleigh-Durham, Honolulu, and Lincoln, and will double the local stations available from 126 to 259.
How to use the Amazon News app on Fire TV
You don’t have to worry about setting anything up or adding another subscription either — because the Amazon News app on Fire TV is totally free and available now on all Fire TV devices.
You can easily access local news for your city using the “Local News” tab within the Amazon news app. Fire TV will automatically detect the closest metro area and add the local news station(s) within the tab.
You can also access the app by saying “Alexa, play local news” with the included Alexa Voice Remote or from across the room on hands-free TVs, such as the Amazon Fire TV Omni Series.
